How Deals Work
How Deals Work
A Brand+ deal connects buyers with eligible publisher inventory based on the deal’s configuration.
The deal defines the commercial, inventory, and targeting conditions under which an advertising opportunity can be made available to the associated buyer and DSP.
Configure the Deal
A deal is configured with information such as:
- Deal name and description
- Advertiser
- DSP and buyer seat
- Start and end dates
- Time zone
- Price and pricing model
- Deal fee
- Targeting criteria
The applicable targeting criteria can include:
- Ad format and size
- Device type
- Environment
- Application bundle or website domain
- Geography
- CTV content signals
- Audience segments
- Placement (Tag IDs)
- Performance (Viewability, CTR, and VCR)
These settings determine which inventory is eligible for the deal.
Make the Deal Active
A new deal can remain in the INITIAL status while its configuration is being prepared and reviewed.
When the deal moves to the RUNNING status, it becomes active and eligible for delivery.
A deal must also be within its configured schedule and have matching inventory to participate in delivery.
Match Inventory
When Verve receives an advertising opportunity, the inventory is evaluated against the deal’s configuration.
The inventory must satisfy the applicable deal conditions, such as:
- Schedule
- Targeting
- Buyer and DSP association
If the applicable conditions are satisfied, the opportunity is eligible for the deal.
Process the Buying Opportunity
The associated DSP evaluates an eligible opportunity.
If the DSP submits a valid bid, the bid can participate according to the applicable deal and auction conditions.
A submitted bid does not always result in a win or an impression.
Measure Deal Delivery
Deal activity can be understood through the following delivery funnel:
Deals DSP Requests → Bids → Wins → Impressions
| Stage | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Deals DSP Requests | Buying opportunities associated with the deal |
| Bids | Responses received from the buyer’s DSP |
| Wins | Auctions won by the buyer |
| Impressions | Advertisements successfully displayed |
A decrease between stages can indicate where delivery is being affected.
Pause or Resume the Deal
Move a deal to PAUSED when it should temporarily stop being eligible for delivery.
Move the deal back to RUNNING when it is ready to resume delivery.
Summary
A Brand+ deal works when:
- The deal is
RUNNING. - The deal is within its scheduled dates.
- Publisher inventory matches the deal configuration.
- The DSP submits an eligible bid.
- The bid wins the applicable auction.
- The advertisement is successfully displayed.
